#MileHighAutumn

Denver residents, we’re at it again with another exciting photo contest! This time, we’re embracing the incredible colors of autumn alongside ways to care for our urban canopy this fall.

Leaf your mark: Join our fall photo contest.

Participating is easy!

Snap a photo of a colorful tree, a pile of raked leaves or your favorite Celebri-Tree. It can be a single leaf, a branch, a whole tree or an entire orchard. It can be just a tree or you with a tree. It could even be your kiddo (or doggo) jumping in leaves – the choice is yours!

Post the photo to Instagram using the hashtag #MileHighAutumn.

The contest runs from Oct. 21 through Nov. 8, 2024. Entry deadline is Nov. 8 at 11:59 p.m. MT.

How will the winners be selected?

Denver residents who submit a photo(s) will be entered into a weekly drawing. At the end of each week (Oct. 25, Nov. 1 and Nov. 8) a winner will be selected to win a $50 Ace Hardware gift card. All entries from all weeks will be eligible to win the grand prize of a $200 Ace Hardware gift card.

The fine print.

No purchase necessary. Entrants are eligible to win prizes by posting a photo with the hashtag #MileHighAutumn to Instagram.

Denver’s Office of the City Forester and Denver Parks & Recreation have the right to use all submitted images on social media, websites, print or digital media. Photographers will not be compensated for the use of the photo outside of this contest.

Composting is in. Trashing leaves is out.

LeafDrop is back! Last year we diverted 688 TONS of leaves from landfills, turning them into nutrient-rich compost that helps plants and trees thrive across Denver.

You can join this year’s effort by claiming five FREE compostable LeafDrop bags to collect your leaves.

Denver’s LeafDrop program allows residents to dispose of their fall leaves in an environmentally friendly way. Each fall, Denver’s Office of the City Forester partners with Denver’s Department of Transportation & Infrastructure (DOTI) and Ace Hardware to provide paper leaf bags and designated drop-off sites for Denver residents. Compostable leaf bags are accepted in green compost carts during heavy yard waste seasons, including April – June and September – November.
